Face Cord is a woodpile logbook that runs entirely on your device. It does not have an account system, does not use analytics, does not show advertising, and does not use any tracking software development kit. Nothing you enter — your stacks, moisture readings, burn-day log, starred species, checklist ticks or milestones — ever leaves your iPhone or iPad.
Because no personal data is collected, Face Cord's App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected."
What stays on your device
All of your logbook data is stored locally using Apple's on-device SwiftData framework and in the app's own Documents folder:
- Woodpile stacks — species, volume, split or delivery date, and origin.
- Moisture readings and the charts built from them.
- Burn-season entries — loads burned, outdoor low, and notes.
- Starred species, buying-checklist progress and milestones.
- Any photo you attach to a stack or a reading.
- Your app settings, saved with Apple's standard UserDefaults storage.
None of this is uploaded to a server, because Face Cord does not operate one. Deleting the app deletes this data. An in-app option also lets you erase everything without deleting the app.
Camera
Face Cord asks for camera access only when you tap "Photograph the meter" while logging a moisture reading, so you can keep a picture of the reading as your own record. The photo is written straight into the app's storage on your device. Face Cord does not access the camera at any other time, and no image is transmitted anywhere.
Photo library
When you choose a photo for a stack or a reading, Face Cord opens Apple's system photo picker. The picker runs outside the app and only hands over the single image you select — Face Cord never receives a list of your other photos or a general library scan. The chosen image is copied into the app's own storage.
Notifications
Face Cord can remind you to re-check a stack's moisture a few weeks after splitting, and can send an evening reminder to log the day's burned loads. Both are local notifications scheduled on your device by iOS itself — no push server or notification network is involved, and permission is requested only the first time you turn a reminder on.
In-app web pages
The Rules & Links section opens two official government and non-profit reference pages — the Don't Move Firewood state map and the EPA Burn Wise programme — inside the app using Apple's WKWebView, so you never have to leave Face Cord. These pages load using a private, non-persistent browsing session that Face Cord clears when you close the viewer. Face Cord does not read or store anything about what you view there, but the linked sites are operated independently and are governed by their own privacy policies once loaded.
Required-reason API usage
Apple requires apps to declare why they use certain system APIs, even when no data is collected. Face Cord's privacy manifest declares one:

Children's privacy
Face Cord is a general-audience utility for people who manage household firewood and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all.
Changes to this policy
If Face Cord's data practices ever change, this page will be updated before the change ships, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect it.
